He and Mary are buried in Moore's graveyard, Chester Co SC.
They also had a daughter Jane Ann c1745 d c1748.
genforum message 1296 says they were married about 1746. This seems wrong.

Kirkpatrick genforum message 474 says James was born between 1710 and 1715 Dumfries Scotland, and was married in 1734 in Scotland. They came to America in the 1740s from Northern Ireland. (Note that other sources show the children from 1736 on born in SC.)

He was awarded land grants in the name of Kilpatrick, totaling 1350 acres, by the then acting Governor of North Carolina in Raleigh, Matthew Rowan, on 24 Sept. 1754. This large grant was likely based upon the size of his family and a location on the then southern frontier of North Carolina. The lands all lay in what is now, not North Carolina, but rather South Carolina. The lands were on the north side of the Broad River on a fork of Turkey Creek, adjacent to the western end of the line between the present York and Chester Cos., SC.

I James Kirkpatrick of the State of
South Carolina York County being sick and weak in body but in
perfect soundness of mind and memory...
declare this to be my last will and testament...
I leave and bequeath to my son Robert Kirkpatrick
the tract of land I now live upon which contains two hundred
acres and if he dies before his wife Rebecca I allow her a suf-
ficient maintainance off sd plantation dureing her widowhood,
and likewise my negro man Isac dureing my sd sons life -- and at
his decease to be sold and equally divided amongst his children
and likewise I leave to my sd son my bed and furniture and also
my pots -- and if my forementiond son Robert die without male
issue then the property of sd land to be vested in his surviving
Item I leave and bequeath to my son Francis's daughter Ann and
his son Samuel two pounds ten shillings each and as much to each
of his two youngest children
Item I leave and bequeath to my son Williams four youngest child-
ren ten pounds
Item I leave and bequeath to my son Thomas's four youngest child-
ren ten pounds
Item I leave and bequeath to my daughter Agnes's two youngest
children five pounds

had the benefit of the same than their part to be equally divid-
ed amongst the surviving legatees of the same family, and that
my executors be not compelled to make up sd sums in less than
three years from my decease, and if my estate fall short each
to loss an equal part
